Glulam for carbon neutral, high-tech timber construction
Glulam is a high grade product made of renewable solid wood which has been reliably used for load-bearing applications for many years.
Glulam consists of at least three layers of dried softwood boards or board lamellas glued together with their fibres aligned parallel to each other.
Thanks to the grading of the raw material according to strength, and the homogenization resulting from the layered structure, this is an enhanced product which has a much higher load-bearing capacity than ordinary construction timber.
Because of the way it is made, glulam has extremely good dimensional stability, is easy to process, and is virtually crack-free.
Glulam is clearly superior to other building materials where maximum strength
and stability, yet low intrinsic weights, are required
